Eiheiji is open every day to visitors from 8:30 am until 4:30 pm. Admission is 500 yen and no reservation is necessary. However, as Eiheiji is a traditional Soto Zen training monastery, possibilities for overnight stays and retreats are very limited. Foreign applicants who would like to stay at Eiheiji need to make the reservation at least one month prior to your arrival. By JR train: From Fukui station on the JR Hokuriku Honsen line,

20 mins by taxi
35 mins by direct bus service from #5 bus terminal located 5 mins' walk east of Fukui station. (Approximately 4 runs on weekdays, 6 on weekends)
Change to Echizen Tetsudo Railway to Eiheiji-guchi station, followed by taxi or bus.
