In Ukraine, the Russian invasion has resulted in the deaths of many people, including women and children, and more than four million people have fled the country and become refugees. In light of this critical international situation, Soto Zen Buddhism is calling for donations from the wider Soto community for the purpose of providing humanitarian assistance to the people of Ukraine.
Donations will be entrusted to the Shanti Volunteer Association, a public interest incorporated association, which provides assistance to Ukrainian refugees.
To be close to the suffering of the local people who have been deprived of a peaceful life and to pray for world peace is an act of a bodhisattva that each of us can perform. It is our wish to realize a world in which all lives are respected, and no one is left behind.
We ask for the understanding and cooperation of all those involved in our Soto community.
